Nanoleaf Skylight Panels: Elevating lighting beyond traditional ceiling lights

Nanoleaf started the New Year with exciting news by unveiling their new product. The Nanoleaf Skylight ceiling lights. The new Skylight ceiling panels are a replacement for your traditional ceiling lights or light fixtures and from the promotional imaged it looks fantastic.

The new Skylights will offer a modular flush-mounted design. The Skylight panels will also offer defused multipoint lighting, which should help to reduce shadowing, bringing nice and even light to your room.

Nanoleaf will also introduce new scenes for the Skylight panels. Nanoleaf says that they took inspiration from the real sky. The new scenes are Sun Shower, Gentle Rain, and Shooting Stars.
The panels will most likely offer a per panel customisation so you can really find the perfect light based on your mood.

The Skylight ceiling lights require a hardwired installation; each kit has one main control panel. Only the main panel will need to be hardwired. The other panels are connected to the controller using power and communication wires.
Each Skylight panel is 300 x 300 x 55 mm in size and provides 1400 lumens of brightness. The panels should offer more than adequate lighting to any room with this level of brightness.
The panels will offer a temperature range of 2700K – 6500K and 16M+ colors.

As with any Nanoleaf product, it will support Screen Mirror, Music Sync, and Sync+ features.

The Skylight panels will be compatible with Apple Home, Amazon Alexa, Google Home, SmartThings, IFTTT, and Razer Chroma. There is no word on Thread or Matter support, so as of writing this article, it is Wi-Fi-only lights.

Price and availability

The Skylight panels will be available in four starter kits: 3 Pack, 6 Pack, 9 Pack, and 12 Pack, and are available for preorder from Nanoleaf with a 10% discount.

  • The 3 Pack is available for 249,99 USD (249,99 EUR)
  • The 4 Pack is available for 299,99 USD
  • The 6 Pack is available for 413,96 USD (464,99 EUR) from 459.96 USD (489,96 EUR)
  • The 9 Pack is available for 599,99 USD (656,99 EUR) from 669.93 USD (729,93 EUR)
  • The 12 Pack is available for 747,91 USD (823,99 EUR) from 879.90USD (969,90 EUR)

Each expansion panel will cost 69,99 USD (79,99 EUR) for one panel, and you can connect up to 99 panels to each main control panel. The panels will start shipping end of January 2024.

The new Skylight panels look fantastic. The only downside is the price. 249,99 USD for three light panels is steep. On the other hand, these lights should replace your ceiling lights or existing light fixtures. And if you compare them to the price of some existing regular light fixtures, the price makes more sense.
If you don’t go too crazy and connect 50 panels, you can keep the price within a reasonable limit.

I can’t wait to test these out and try them out myself, and I would like to know your thoughts on these lights.
